After nearly five years of marriage, the singer of “Heartfirst,” 28, and the musician of “Kiss Somebody,” 37, filed for divorce on Friday, according to court documents seen by PEOPLE.

How do Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans meet?
The two country singers originally connected in March 2016 while working together to co-host the CMC Awards in Evans’ home nation of Australia. They became engaged in December and then married a year and a half later in a small ceremony on the beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.n
In November, Ballerini revealed to PEOPLE that she and Evans frequently attended couples therapy.

Kelsea Ballerini’s marriage adds stars to her carrer
Since the day of their wedding, Ballerini’s career as a musician has thrived. She has produced multiple albums, two No. 1 singles, and two further Top 5 singles. In fact, her Subject to Change album, which includes the song “Heartfirst,” is set to release the following month.

When Ballerini performed at the ACM Honors celebration in Nashville earlier this week, he was not captured on camera. One of the highlights of the night was her rendition of “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” by Shania Twain.
Kelsea Ballerini is also going to release her new album.
Ballerini is getting ready for the Sept. 23 release of her album Subject to Change via Black River Entertainment. She announced the album on social media and stated that it reflects her personal development over the previous few years.
