On May 4, 1950,Darryl Hunt was born in Christchurch, Hampshire (now Dorset), England. He received his education at Allhallows College in Lyme Regis, Devon, and afterward attended Nottingham Trent University to further his studies and receive a BA in fine art.
His first musical experience at school was with The Brothel Creepers, a group that was created in 1973 for a student film and later changed its name to Plummet Airlines. The Favourites, a punk rock group, was later founded by him.

Early life and music
At the Nottingham School of Art, where he studied under Vic Birgin and Steve Willets and collaborated on musical installations with Dave Measures, Darryl received his BA in fine art.
With Plummet Airlines, whose debut song was released on Stiff, he made his first step into music (Buy8). Then he started a punk-pop band called The Favorites, whose “SOS” single was Annie Nightengale’s (Radio 1) single of the week.
He started Pride of the Cross as a part-time lounge band with other musicians Dave Scott (from Spizz) and Cait O’Riorden (from The Pogues) after pursuing other musical endeavors. Performances were well-attended and started to feel almost legendary. On Big Beat, one single was released.
He participated in the subsequent albums by the Celtic-influenced group, including If I Should Fall From Grace With God (1988), which contained the holiday smash Fairytale Of New York.
Frontman Shane MacGowan was joined by Jem Finer, James Fearnley, Andrew Ranken, Terry Woods, Hunt, and various musicians during the years in the band.
Up to the release of their final album, Pogue Mahone, in 1996, Darryl appeared in their writing.
Several of their songs, including Love You Til the End, bear his composition credit.
The life challenges of Darryl Hunt
Due to a shortage of funds, Darryl made the decision to join his buddies in The Pogues where he would be responsible for the sound, driving, tour management, and instrument maintenance. occasionally having to step in as Cait O’Riorden’s replacement as the bassist, a role that became permanent in September 1986 when Cait made the decision to leave with Elvis Costello and extend the trip indefinitely.
Darryl remained a member of the group up to its dissolution in 1996. He contributed drums, guitar, and backing vocals to the band in addition to playing the bass guitar.
The sudden death of Darryl Hunt
The Pogues’ bass guitarist Darryl Hunt passed away at the age of 72.
The band posted on Twitter to acknowledge Hunt’s passing, saying, “We are grieved beyond words. Our Darryl went away to London yesterday afternoon.
There has been no mention of a cause of death.
The notification read, “Darryl Gatwick Hunt 04/05/1950 – 08/08/2022,” and included these lines from their song “Love You ‘Til The End”: I adore you to the very end, I know you want to hear me catch my breath.
Shane MacGowan served as the band’s frontman for many years, along with Jem Finer, James Fearnley, Andrew Ranken, Terry Woods, Spider Stacy, and Darryl Hunt.

The bassist of The Pogues wrote the song Love You ‘Til The End, which was later posted by the band on Twitter.

In his personal homage to his late bandmate, Darryl Hunt, The Pogues leader Shane MacGowan called him a “wonderful friend and a great bass player.”
MacGowan posted on Twitter, “I am very very sorry that Darryl has died away, he was a genuinely wonderful guy, a great friend, and a great bass player.”
