This week, Jodie Prenger made her debut on Coronation Street, but the show’s viewers believe George Shuttleworth’s sister is far too good to be true because of the numerous holes in her narrative.

One sharp-eyed fan wrote on Reddit, “I like Jodie. Glenda, in my opinion, clearly rescued the day and handled Mrs. Pugh admirably, but I don’t remember George ever mentioning having a sister, let alone joking about her singing on cruise liners.
They questioned, “Why has she shown up out of the blue on George’s doorstep? When you work away from home on extended but intermittent contracts as you do on cruise ships (and many other sectors), you generally retain your home base available for your off-work periods.”
Before asking, “Did she not have a home of her own? Did she own a home or apartment that was repossessed in some way? Did she lease it out for the duration and is it impossible for her to evict the tenants?
Before she started working on cruise ships, did she reside with George? Are all of her belongings in the suitcase? All of her stage attire?
Jodie Prenger Biography
Jodie, a 43-year-old native of Blackpool, is a well-known actress who has been on stages across the nation and in London’s West End.
She became well-known after winning the 2008 BBC One competition programme I’d Do Anything, in which aspirants vied to play Nancy in a West End production of Oliver.
Jodie had to compete against the show’s runner-up, Jessie Buckley, who is now well-known in her own right as an Oscar-nominated actress, as well as Samantha Barks, who later made an appearance in the Les Miserables movie.
Jodie, who is an avid fan of Coronation Street, found fame when she won I’d Do Anything in 2008 and subsequently appeared as Nancy in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Oliver! The Musical. She has since had a hugely successful theatre career and played Miss Hannigan in Annie the Musical and also appeared in One Man Two Guvnors at the Haymarket Theatre in London.

Additionally, she played Helen in the National Theatre’s production of A Taste of Honey, which was influenced by seeing early Coronation Street episodes.
She has been on television in shows like Candy Cabs, This Morning, The Alan Titchmarsh Show, and Waterloo Road.
Social media fans desperate to know more about Glenda’s back story
The user of social media stated that they were curious to learn more about Glenda’s past and said, “Right now, I’m not persuaded her abrupt appearance doesn’t have an ulterior goal. She appears to be too good to be true.
Another Facebook user speculated Glenda may have returned to gently reveal a fairly significant family secret to George. They said: “Yes, I agree with all the light-hearted parts in the programme last night. What a difference!
But I can’t help but wonder if Glenda and George are half-siblings.
She is a breath of fresh air, but wait till the Corrie writers give her a sleazy ex, a long-lost child, or a criminal conviction, cried another.
It does appear to be a theme, though I sincerely hope not… Why won’t they permit people to lead regular lives in the past? Another person pleaded.
What can we expect from New Glenda character?
Iain MacLeod, the show’s executive producer, predicted that the new character, Glenda, would be a lot of fun: “Glenda sweeps in fresh from the cruise ships with a fragrance of the exotic, rapidly making best friends and enemies in equal measure.”

The persona is hilarious and reminds me of vintage Coronation Street women. We are all thrilled to have Jodie on board because she is a fantastic talent. She immediately felt like a Corrie character when she arrived on set, and I believe that viewers will adore her.

To be a part of something my family and I have enjoyed for so long, Jodie has added that she is happy to have joined the serial opera. And what a character, I must say, a complete dream role. I’m eager for you all to meet George Shuttleworth’s sister Glenda, who is witty and spunky.
“What a fella, Tony Maudsley, I immediately adore him!” One of the most nerve-wracking moments you’ll have is your first day on the cobbles, and everyone was just so incredibly beautiful, warm, and gracious. It was and still is all I had hoped for.
