Two miles of lines have formed at the Copdock Interchange just outside of Ipswich this afternoon due to a multi-vehicle collision on the A14 (September 4). At Junction 55, A12 (Copdock Interchange), the westbound lanes of the A14 are closed, and traffic is backed up until Junction 57, the Whersted Interchange.
Initially, traffic from the entry slip road was not permitted to return to the A14, but police are no longer sending cars through slip roads. The exit and entry slip roads are now being used as a detour so that emergency services can handle the problem.
A silver-colored car appears to be on the grass verge in the middle of the lane, close to the slip road junction coming off the A14, according to traffic camera images. A white automobile looks to be idling near the central reservation barrier on the grass verge. Police cars are blocking the road, and it also appears like there is a small fire on the grass at the middle reservation.
