What happens exactly at Peachtree City Walmart?

Workers battling the blaze at the Peachtree City Walmart anticipate putting it out later tonight. In addition to the store being damaged, three Peachtree City police officers were treated for smoke inhalation as a result of the fire that started inside the building shortly after 7 o’clock in the evening. One member of the public was also treated and released at the scene.

Will Harbin, an assistant fire chief, stated in a statement made at 9:10 p.m. that 911 had received calls about the fire and a water flow alert signalling the activation of the store’s sprinkler system at 7:21 p.m. and 7:21, respectively.

As customers and employees fled the store after the in-store alarm went off and the sprinkler system turned on, police and firefighters swiftly responded, according to Harbin.

Firefighters discovered heavy fire in the shopping area and originating from the item racks after first spotting smoke coming from the store’s back, according to Harbin. Harbin observed that as the fire advanced, it moved toward the ceiling before starting to collapse trusses. At that time, firefighters left the structure and assumed a defensive position for their own safety by using ladder trucks to spray water onto the roof.

Three Peachtree City police officers were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, and one member of the public who had a medical complaint was also treated there and discharged, according to Harbin.

According to Harbin, the fire should be put out sometime tonight.

The fire marshal is present to look into what started the fire.
