What happened to Nick Theofilis?
White Oak E.M.S confirmed the news on their facebook page. No cause of death has been mentioned. the message reads,
Our hearts are broken this morning as we announce the passing of Paramedic Nick Theofilis who was involved in a tragic ambulance accident overnight. Nick was a full-time Paramedic at Penn Hills EMS and also worked part-time for White Oak EMS.White Oak E.M.S
Nick worked as a full-time EMT for White Oak EMS from March 2019 – March 2022 while he attended Paramedic school. Upon graduation and fulfilling his dream of becoming a Paramedic, Nick was anxious to return to the community of Penn Hills where he grew up to give-back and serve his fellow community members. Nick called White Oak his “second home” and remained on our part-time roster. During his time at White Oak EMS, Nick fell in love with many of our local restaurants and enjoyed serving the residents of the borough.

Nicholas Theofilis was the first responder, according to Penn Hills EMS. He was employed by Penn Hills EMS.
Penn Hills VFD Station 223 shared their condolences on their page. the message reads,

How did Nick Theofilis die?
Just after midnight, a car and a Penn Hills EMS ambulance collided near the junction of 5th Avenue and Morewood Avenue.
According to representatives of Pittsburgh Public Safety, the ambulance’s driver was in cardiac arrest when emergency personnel arrived on the site. He was in critical condition when brought to a neighbouring hospital. At the hospital, he passed away.
Throughout the night, a lot of EMS and public safety organisations posted condolences on their social media pages.
Pittsburgh EMS Chief Ronald Romano shared his tribute,
“This hits home for me as the chief of Pittsburgh EMS. We are all affected when one of our emergency medical services colleagues passes away. This is a very real concern for the Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS. Every day brings a new reminder of how fleeting life is, and this tragedy is no different. As the department mourns one of its own, we stand with Penn Hills EMS and extend our sincere condolences and unwavering support,” said Pittsburgh EMS Chief Ronald Romano.
What happened to other occupant in the ambulance?
The other passenger in the ambulance was sent to the hospital in stable condition despite having cuts on his face, head damage, and a potential concussion. At the time of the collision, there were no patients in the ambulance.
In stable condition, the car’s driver was also taken to the hospital.
The driver of a different vehicle was also transported to a hospital in stable condition while experiencing stomach pain.
According to the police, the ambulance was empty when the collision occurred.
According to an updated report from Pittsburgh Public Safety, the initial collision resulted in a third vehicle being struck.
Police in Pittsburgh are looking into it.
The cause of the collision is being looked into.
Nick Theofilis cause of death

We have lost an amazing person
Today, we lost our former President Nick Theofilis, who was only 23 yrs old . He passed away while working doing what he loved, He was dedicated to his job and helping people. Something he loved and was passionate about and one heck of a paramedic, and was loved by all who met him, he had an old soul to him !! He was a special part of the Rosedale family and the Community of Penn Hills. He will be missed more than you ever know.
