The horrific attack happened just before 10.30 am on Wednesday at a recreation area on Hillson Drive in Fareham, Hampshire.

A dog in a Hampshire park has murdered a 34-year-old man.
A 20-year-old local guy has been detained on suspicion of keeping an aggressive dog under control.
Around 10.30 am on Wednesday, the assault took place in a recreation area alongside a residential road in Fareham, according to Hampshire Constabulary.
The family of the victim has been notified. Locally, the individual has been identified as Ian “Wiggy” Symes.
‘Wiggy’ Symes Cause of death
A horrifying dog attack in a Portsmouth park claimed the life of a 34-year-old man after he was mauled by the animal.
The assault happened on Wednesday just before 10.30 am in a recreation area.
Despite the arrival of emergency personnel, the man was declared dead in the park.
The dog’s owner, a 20-year-old male, has been detained on suspicion of being him.
The man’s family was alerted, and the dog was restrained and taken from the area.
Police are looking into the assault.
According to a Hampshire Police spokeswoman, on Wednesday, August 10, at 10:25 a.m., officers were alerted to concerns for a man’s welfare at the recreation area on Hillson Drive in Fareham.

According to Hampshire Police, they are interviewing locals and pursuing additional lines of inquiry to determine the man’s cause of death. A 20-year-old Fareham man has been detained on suspicion of being the owner or person in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control and had caused harm and death.
He was freed from detention without being charged, but an inquiry is still ongoing. Additionally, a dog has been seized and ejected from the area.
What Happened exactly?
A 34-year-old man was later declared dead at the scene by our South Central Ambulance Service colleagues.
His relatives have been notified.
“We are interviewing locals and pursuing various avenues of inquiry to find out how the man passed away.
“A 20-year-old Fareham man has been detained as part of our investigations on suspicion of being the owner or person in charge of a dog that is dangerously out of control and is causing injury that could lead to death. He was freed from detention without being charged, but an inquiry is still ongoing.
Additionally, a dog has been contained and removed from the area.
The South Central Ambulance Service has been approached by The Mirror for comment.

This comes after a Doberman dog bit a three-year-old girl in a different incident in Hampshire, causing her to sustain injuries that would change her life.
A 44-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of being in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control and injured the youngster in Havant on Monday.
The girl was transported to the hospital, and the police took the dog away.
A police spokesperson informed The Mirror today that the woman has been released on conditional bail while inquiries are ongoing.
The mother, identified locally as Joanne Robinson, was killed in Rotherham after being mauled by a dog, according to a story published in The Mirror last month.
Following the unfortunate event, floral tributes were put outside the victim’s home in West Melton.

A teenage girl was attacked by a dog in May as she attempted to assist the dog’s owner in mending a harness and was taken to the hospital.

Tributes to Wiggy Symes
A homage to Mr. Symes, who was allegedly a dog lover himself, has been left on the spot.
“Wig, my brother from another mother, will miss you very dearly,” read one tribute. Love you, keep Stella cool, and soar high.
“Recalling the best times we had as children together. Without you, things around here won’t be the same. Lots of love, keep on strutting,” said another.
Martin Symes, the brother of Mr. Symes, went to the park where a shrine field had been decorated with flowers and messages.
“The past 30 hours have been quite upsetting and very hard to fully understand what occurred and why,” Martin said in remembrance of his brother, who was nearly widely known by the nickname “Wiggy.”
“I appreciate all the well-wishes and condolences for my brother. The flowers and notes left at the field are really heartfelt.
It’s crazy to think about how much fun I had playing football on that field and how the incident erased all of my schoolyard jokes.
The facts are that, as tragic as it is to say, he died while out walking his dog, which was something he loved to do.
Despite not being particularly religious, I do believe that after death you go to a better place. He will probably already be up there walking his dogs.

Martin claimed that after the assault, many people rushed to aid his brother. “The folks who were there from the beginning should be extremely pleased with how they reacted to the crisis,” he stated.
