Singer Steve Grimmett cause of death
The lead singer of the British heavy metal band Grim Reaper, Steve Grimmett, has passed away. He was 62. Grimmett’s son confirmed the news in a Facebook post, writing: “We can’t begin to put into words the current thoughts.
However, because of how well-known dad was, the news is starting to spread sooner than we would have expected. Sadly, our father died away today, leaving a huge void in both the world and our hearts. We are heartbroken to the core. snooze on, dad. You have our undying affection, xxx.
The cause of death is yet unknown.
Steve Grimmett past sickness
Grimmett passed away more than five years after having his right leg partially amputated in January 2017 as a result of an infected foot wound that had halfway during the group’s five-week tour of South America spread to the bones in his leg.
After receiving the life-saving operation in Ecuador, the band’s frontman spent little over a month in the hospital while supporters gathered $14,000 to fly him home after his insurance company refused to cover the costs due to the nature of his profession.
Who was Steve Grimmett?
The band was founded in 1979, and in 1982 Grimmett was added to the lineup as its vocalist. He was the group member with the longest tenure at the time of his death. He appeared on five studio albums over the band’s existence. Between 1982 and 1988, the first three songs, See You in Hell, Fear No Evil, and Rock You to Hell, were recorded. Walking in the Shadows and At the Gates, the two most recent, were released in 2016 and 2019, respectively.
The musician underwent a partial amputation of his right leg in January 2017 to “remove an infection from his foot and bones.”
In 1982, Grimmett first joined Grim Reaper. Before breaking up in 1988, they collaborated on three albums: See You In Hell (1983), Fear No Evil (1985), and Rock You To Hell (1987). Later, as Steve Grimmett’s Grim Reaper, they came back together. Under that moniker, they issued the albums Walking In The Shadows (2016) and At The Gates (2019). Grimmett also served as the frontman for the bands Onslaught and Lionsheart from 1988 and 2006.
Steve Grimmett career
Following an agreeable agreement between the singer and original GRIM REAPER guitarist Nick Bowcott that using the old name without the other members of the classic lineup wouldn’t be a real reunion, Grimmett revived GRIM REAPER as STEVE GRIMMETT’S GRIM REAPER in 2006.
Two studio albums from STEVE GRIMMETT’S GRIM REAPER were released: “Walking In The Shadows” in 2016 and “At The Gates” in 2019.
Since 2006, STEVE GRIMMETT’S GRIM REAPER has performed at numerous European music festivals and travelled extensively.
Steve stated to VWMusic earlier this year that he has “absolutely no regrets” about the course of his career. He admitted, “I should legally be a millionaire, but I haven’t got a penny to my name. “Because of COVID, I’m currently receiving welfare.
Many people believe that I am a millionaire, but I can assure you that I am not. That pretty much says it all—I’ve never received a penny—not one penny—from GRIM REAPER. Still, I have no regrets. I still enjoy going up there and having a good time. I continue to enjoy observing the happy faces in front of me. That covers everything for me and says it all.”
Steve Grimmett recent updates
Grimmett also intended to resume touring in 2022. He said: “I’m presently finalising some agreements for a tour in America, after which we’ll travel to South America and Europe. All of these need my team to come together, choose dates, and then simply get started, book it, and go forward. Evidently, GRIM REAPER will release a tonne more music in the future.”
Added him: “I just want to express my gratitude to my followers for their continued support. I’m eager to meet you in person and see you for real. Be careful and be secure.”
