Rodax had previously played for Admira in his youth, where he was able to turn pro in the 1982–1983 campaign. He had an exceptional 1989–1990 season playing with the Lower Austrians. On March 28, 1990, in Malaga, the blond striker made international headlines for his top-scoring performance (35 goals), selection as Austria’s footballer of the year, and other accomplishments.
After falling behind 2-0, Rodax scored the winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Spain, which caught the attention of Atletico Madrid and led to a summer transfer to the Spanish capital. Due to the then-current foreigner restrictions, he was no longer regularly used by Atletico and left the club in Austria at the end of 1991. In his first season, he scored nine league goals for the club.
Before concluding his playing career with Admira in 1995/96, Rodax spent one and a half seasons (1992 to the summer of 1993) with Rapid. He scored 95 goals overall in 246 Bundesliga appearances with Admira (83) and Rapid (12). He made 20 appearances for the national team and scored three goals, including a World Cup goal in the 2-1 victory over the USA in 1990. He established a tennis centre in Traiskirchen throughout his career, which he ran as managing director up until the end. Two daughters and a wife are left behind by Rodax.
