His son Sarfaraz Anwar confirmed the news to Prothom Alo, stating that the renowned lyricist passed away at around 6.30 am.

He tripped going to the bathroom after waking up in the morning, it was discovered. Later, after being brought to the hospital, he passed away there.

Gazi Mazharul Anwar Career in 1980s and 90s
For Rajnigandha, Ronger Manush, Bhat De, and Desh Pardesh in 1982, he wrote the lyrics. He composed “Ami Rajnigandha Phuler Moto” (sung by Yasmin) for Rajnigandha, which became a big hit. For Door Desh, he composed the song “Jeona Saathi” (performed by Yasmin).
The latter earned Andrew Kishore a National Film Award. Andrew Kishore’s rendition of Gazi’s “Sobai To Bhalobasa Chai” became very popular. Successful songs by Yasmin included “Dhonyo Hoyechi Ami,” “Koto Sadhonay Emon Bhagyo Mele,” and “E Jibone Tumi Ogo Ele.” [1] He composed well-known songs for Mahanayak in 1984. He wrote the song “Ei Duniya Ekhon To Aar” for the Shabana-starring film Dui Poisar Alta in 1986.
For that song, Mukherjee won a National Film Award. Shammi Aktar became well-known thanks to his song “Akasher Hate Achhe Ekrash Nil,” which he penned.
He directed the 1990 movie Swadhin, which was based on a true story from the liberation. He composed “Tumi Amar Praner Cheye Priyo” and “Je Prem Swargo Theke” for Praner Cheye Priyo in 1997. The songs for the 1999 movie Biyer Phul, Ammajan, Madam Fuli, Ragi were written by him. Kishore and Kanakchapa performed the popular song “Tomay Dekhle Mone Hoy” for Biyer Phul.

For the movie, he won his fourth National Film Award for Best Lyricist. For Phul Nebo Na Osru Nebo in 2003, he penned “Kichu Kichu Manusher Jibone.” Kishore and Kanak Chapa sang it. Tondraha Noyono Amar, Ektara Tui Desher Kotha, Ekbar Jete Dena, Ek Nodi Rokto Periye, Sagorer Teer Theke, Akash hate ache ekrash nil, and Choker nozor emni koira ekdin khoiya jabe are few examples. He is most well known for his work with Yasmin.
She was responsible for several of her biggest songs, including “Prem jeno mor godhuli belar Pantho pakhir kakoli”, “Osru Diye Lekha”, “Swojon Harano Diner”, “Koto Sadhonay”, “Jibon Amar Dhonyo Holo”, “Ei Prithibir Pore”, “O Amar Rosiya Bondhure”, “Ei Mon Tomake Dilam.
Runa Laila, Andrew Kishore, Kanak Chapa, Syed Abdul Hadi, Subir Nandi, and Khurshid Alam were additional significant collaborators.

Gazi Mazharul Anwar was the greatest lyricist in Bangladesh. Alam Khan, Sheikh Sadi Khan, Alauddin Ali, Samar Das, Satya Saha, Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul, and music directors from a subsequent age like Shawkat Ali Emon, Emon Saha, and Ali Akram Shuvo were among the composers with whom he collaborated.
Along with Apel Mahmud, Govind Haldar, and Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, he contributed lyrics to the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra in 1971. Swajan Harano Diner Smarane, Ektara Tui Desher Kotha, Ek Nodi Rokto Periye, and other songs are by him.
During the conflict, the nation was motivated by these songs. Sabina Yasmin, Runa Laila, Shahnaz Rahmatullah, Subir Nandi, Syed Abdul Hadi, Mahmudunnabi, Kanak Chapa, Andrew Kishore, Khalid Hasan Milu, Baby Nazneen, and Monir Khan all rose to greater heights as a result of his music.
