In his personal homage to his late bandmate, Darryl Hunt, The Pogues leader Shane MacGowan called him a “wonderful friend and a great bass player.”
MacGowan posted on Twitter, “I am very very sorry that Darryl has died away, he was a genuinely wonderful guy, a great friend, and a great bass player.”
“All of us will miss him.
“May he have an endless state of happiness, and may Shane’s family and friends love him.”

The iconic bassist for THE Pogues passed away today at the age of 72, according to his fellow musicians.
Despite the fact that the reason for Darryl Hunt’s passing has not yet been disclosed, he passed away yesterday afternoon.
His heartbroken bandmates shared a black and white picture of Hunt carrying a guitar bag on social media to break the news.

The Pogues’ bass player Darryl Hunt Biography
After working as a roadie for the group before joining as a musician in 1986, Hunt played bass on all of the group’s studio albums, beginning with 1988’s “If I Should Fall from Grace with God,” which featured the mainstream breakthrough single “Fairytale of New York,” and ending with the composition of “Love You ‘Til the End” on the group’s final album, “Pogue Mahone.”
In their collective social media eulogies, the band cited the song to tell followers of the musician’s passing at the age of 72.
Other band members, such as Spider Stacy, made personal tributes.
Hunt began his artistic career after receiving a BA in Fine Arts from Nottingham Trent University. He had previously played in the punk bands Plummet Airlines and The Favourites, and his song “Love You ‘Til the End” became well-known, appearing repeatedly in the 2007 romantic comedy “P.S. I adore you.”

He started out as a roadie for the London-Irish band and made his debut on the album If I Should Fall from Grace with God, which contained the band’s huge hit Fairytale of New York, in 1988.
He majored in fine art at Nottingham Trent University, where he also started his first band, The Brothel Creepers, which he eventually replaced with The Favourites, a punk group.

His song Love You Till The End appears on The Pogues’ album Pogue Mahone and was featured in Mystery, Alaska (a Jay Roach movie) and P.S. I Love You (a Richard LaGravenese movie).
