In 2001, Mr. Campbell Danesh made his first attempt to get notoriety on the ITV programme Popstars. He then participated in the inaugural Will Young-winning Pop Idol competition.
The Scottish singer-songwriter went on to have a great career, performing in West End productions of Gone With The Wind, Guys and Dolls, and Chicago, in which he played Billy Flynn.
The actor recently revealed that he modelled his portrayal of Flynn after his former mentor and Pop Idol judge, Simon Cowell.
In the musical set in Chicago during the Prohibition, Mr. Campbell Danesh played Billy Flynn opposite America Ferrera from Ugly Betty. He said of the character: “He’s the consummate businessman and a wonderful guy. There’s a lot of Simon Cowell in Billy Flynn in terms of the way he approaches things and I recognise that in terms of the character.”
He said he was “extremely grateful” for the opportunity he had been given and “glad to be able to call Simon Cowell a friend,” attributing his decision to accept the position to Mr. Cowell.

He won the first series of ITV’s Popstar To Operastar competition in 2010, defeating Bernie Nolan of the Nolan Sisters in a close final after placing third in Pop Idol.
A few months after winning the competition, which was judged by Mexican-born tenor Rolando Villazon and Welsh soprano Katherine Jenkins, he was cast in his first major opera role as toreador Escamillo in the production of Carmen at London’s O2 Arena.

He was a passenger in a Porsche when it slid on oil and hit a wall at 70 mph in Spain.
He wed Natasha Henstridge, a Canadian actress best recognised for her work in the science fiction film Species, in Santa Barbara, California, in 2011.

Many people have paid tribute to the deceased celebrity, including actor Sanjeev Bhaskar, who recalled the actor’s debut on his programme The Kumars at No. 42.
