The hard rock band Nazareth’s original lead singer, Dan McCafferty, has passed away. He was 76. Let’s see how did he die? What happened? And Dan McCafferty cause of death.
How did Dan McCafferty die?
Pete Agnew, the bassist for the group, posted on Tuesday that McCafferty passed away “at 12:40 today.” He omitted to mention the cause of death.
Agnew continued, “This is the hardest announcement I’ve ever had to make. “The world has lost one of the finest singers who has ever lived, Maryann and the family have lost a beautiful loving husband and father, I have lost my best friend. I’m too unhappy right now to say anything more.

Who was Dan McCafferty?
Along with Agnew, guitarist Manny Charlton, and drummer Darrell Sweet, McCafferty was a founding member of the band Nazareth when it was established in 1968. He left the group in August 2013.
McCafferty spoke candidly about living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which the Mayo Clinic defines as a long-term inflammatory lung illness that prevents airflow from the lungs, in an interview with Classic Rock Here and Now in 2014.
McCafferty claimed that the illness caused him to leave Nazareth.
He claimed, “I can’t sing on tour like I used to anymore. “I believe that if you can’t do the job, you shouldn’t be there,” I’m sorry, but I can’t perform a whole set live anymore.
Dan McCafferty early life
He also talked about Nazareth’s early years.
He claimed, “We weren’t attempting to alter the world or get famous. We all in the band enjoyed music, we lived in a tiny town, and we all had various interests. We finally came together because of everyone’s compatibility.
Dan McCafferty albums
On their sixth studio album, Hair of the Dog, the quartet radically reworked the Everly Brothers’ 1960 non-single “Love Hurts.” The country-tinged arrangement from the Kentucky duet was replaced with Charlton’s feedback-fueled guitar hook, which led to a distinctive solo.
Its biggest American triumph, the song peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, propelling Hair of the Dog into the US Top 20. Later, it appeared in a number of TV shows, including Scrubs, King of the Hill, Supernatural, That ’70s Show, and Lords of Dogtown, a 2005 skateboarding film.
In addition to having a driving guitar riff, the album’s title track, which belongs on any serious “cowbell” playlist, was also the flip side of the “Love Hurts” single. The song continues to be a mainstay on classic rock radio stations thanks to the oft-repeated lyric, “Now you’re messin’ with a son of a bitch.”
Love Hurts achieved gold certification in 1976, and Hair of the Dog achieved platinum certification in 1992 for 1 million unit sales.
The album also gave birth to the passably popular UK single “My White Bicycle,” but it failed to become a hit in that country.
The final time Nazareth hit the US Top 40 was in 1976, when their album Close Enough for Rock ‘n’ Roll peaked at No. 24.
With the 1980 single “Holiday,” it had a little US hit, and in 1982, “Love Leads to Madness” received some FM airplay. In 1981, the group toured North America with Krokus as its opening act. In 2008, the group supported Deep Purple.
