Late Saturday night in Lévis, a driver who was under the influence of alcohol struck a car on a highway ramp. Fortunately, there were no significant injuries recorded.

On Saturday night, while traveling the wrong way on the Lévis highway ramp, a guy whose skills were clearly impaired by alcohol caused a violent collision.

A violent frontal accident sent the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) to the intersection joining Highway 20 westbound and Highway 73 southbound.

“An intoxicated motorist struck another vehicle while traveling in the opposite direction. Then, according to Stéphane Tremblay, an SQ spokesperson, his own truck caught fire.

Both the 18-year-old driver of the second vehicle and the 33-year-old driver of the first vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Both were rushed to the hospital, however, it is unknown what kind of injuries they sustained.

What exactly happened on the Lévis motorway ramp?

He hit a car on the ramp while driving in the opposing direction.

The suspect’s vehicle caught fire after the frontal collision, according to Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). The fire department quenched the flames.

The 33-year-old Quebec motorist was brought to the hospital for treatment of minor wounds. His blood alcohol level was measured on-site using blood samples.

He could face charges of driving while intoxicated after being released on a promise to appear.

The 18-year-old driver of the car was also brought to the hospital, although there are no concerns for his life.

According to the SQ, a third vehicle was also involved in the crash, although the driver was unharmed.

Up until two in the morning, traffic was stopped between the ramp connecting Southbound Highway 73 and Westbound Highway 20.
