An incident involving gunfire took place Wednesday morning on Interstate 85 northbound close to milepost 23. The Troup County Sheriff’s Office is looking into it.

Around 7:56 in the morning, a driver called 911 to report that a person driving what he described as an older white Cadillac had shot at and hit his car.

The I-85 northbound near the 23-mile marker was the scene of a shooting, which the Troup County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking into.

A driver called 911 on August 17 at 7:56 a.m. after being shot at and struck by someone driving what he described as an older white Cadillac driven by a man.

The incident did not result in any injuries to the victim, and the suspect continued to travel north on I-85. Deputies from Troup County are looking into the shooting between exits 18 and 28.

The Auburn Police Department reports that one northbound lane of I-85 is now open for traffic to pass by the crime scene between mile markers 56 and 57 in Auburn, where a driver was shot at around 6:15 a.m.

A second interstate shooting was reported in Troup County about an hour after that one, and authorities believe the two shootings are likely connected.

On August 17 at 7:56 a.m., a driver dialled 911 after being shot at and struck by a person in what he described as an older white Cadillac being driven by a man.

The victim wasn’t hurt in the incident, and the suspect kept driving north on I-85 after it. Troup County deputies are investigating the shooting that occurred between exits 18 and 28.
