According to a tweet from Tim Cruz, the district attorney for Plymouth County, the Wareham Police Department called the Massachusetts State Police detectives to respond to the incident around 5 p.m. on Friday.

A husband and wife, both in their 70s, were discovered dead, according to the responding officers. The wife had Alzheimer’s disease, according to the neighbours, and the couple had lived in the area for a long period.

The shooting’s precise location and timing are still unknown, but the district attorney’s office said early investigations indicate it might have been a murder-suicide.

The DA withheld any additional information, including the scene of the shootings.

Police were reportedly observed congregating on Captain Collis Drive close to the Point Independence Yacht Club, according to Wareham Week.

For the investigation on Friday night, Wareham Police shut off Captain Collis Drive, a private road. The beach along Onset Bay is accessible via the narrow roadway.
