Chimaev vs Diaz betting preview

After defeating Gilbert Burns in April in one of the most exciting fights of the year by unanimous decision, Khamzat “Borz” Chimaev has risen to No. 3 in the welterweight rankings.

The first genuine test of Chimaev’s career came against Burns, a former No. 2 contender, after he had easily dispatched his previous four UFC opponents by landing a total of 112 important strikes while only taking one.
Chimaev has a perfect 11-0 record in mixed martial arts (MMA), and since entering the UFC, he has collected five victories and five Performance of the Night or Fight of Night bonuses.

The 28-year-old, who also competes at middleweight, is a skilled wrestler with heavy hands and nasty techniques. He has amazing strength for this level.

Chimaev vs Diaz Prediction

After starting his UFC career with five straight wins in the octagon, Khamzat Chimaev has risen to No. 3 in the welterweight rankings. Since joining the UFC in 2020, Chimaev has also amassed performances in each of his octagon appearances.

Nate Diaz is not presently ranked, but that hasn’t stopped him from competing against the best welterweight contenders in the UFC. Along with losing to Leon Edwards last year, Diaz has recently faced Jorge Masvidal, Anthony Pettis, and Conor McGregor.

Chimaev is a huge favourite at odds ranging from -1,000 to -1,250, so it’s not a huge shock that he should win. When you consider that Chimaev was obviously overrated as a -500 chalk versus Burns, these odds are still a little off. Although Diaz was slightly undervalued versus Edwards at +410, she was able to outlast the current champion and even win the fifth round.

Even so, there are many other factors outside the opposing career paths of the two competitors that make this a terrible matchup. Even in his prime (which was a very long time ago), Diaz could be outmuscled by bigger opponents and had a poor takedown defence. At welterweight, Chimaev is a beast, and some of his offensive wrestling and top control are among of the best business. In what is probably the final UFC bout of his career, “Borz” will likely send Diaz out on his shield.

Prediction: Chimaev (-1,000 at bet365)

Chimaev vs. Diaz betting analysis

With 15 post-fight award bonuses, Diaz, an MMA legend who has competed in the UFC since 2007, holds the promotion record.
The 37-year-old, who hasn’t fought since the year 2020 began and lost by a lopsided decision to Leon Edwards last summer, is obviously past his prime.
Diaz is a skilled grappler with a second-degree black belt in BJJ and 11 career victories through submission. However, he is better known for his resilience, cardiovascular fitness, and capacity for all-out combat with his volume striking.

During his comparatively little time in the UFC, Khamzat Chimaev has wasted little time in establishing himself as a title challenger. Early in his career, the 28-year-old immediately established a reputation as a knockout specialist after recording first-round victories in four of his first five professional fights.

He solidified that reputation with a record-breaking UFC debut that included victories over middleweight John Phillips in the second round by submission and welterweight Rhys McKee via first-round TKO at UFC Fight Island 3.
Over the course of his first four matches, Chimaev took just one strike in total. However, he learned an important lesson during his most recent encounter with Gilbert Burns, winning the unanimous verdict thanks to two takedowns.

Few fighters display the “take on all comers” mentality that has made Nate Diaz, a true warrior who has competed in the UFC since 2007, a popular figure among fans.
Diaz has a spotty professional history, but sports bettors shouldn’t be fooled. The native of Stockton, California, has proven in the octagon that he can take a lot of damage. In Diaz’s last seven fights, five of them have gone the distance, and four of them included current or former UFC champions.
Even though Diaz no longer possesses the punching force of his youth, he is still a threat on the mat as three of his last seven victories have been by submission.

Pick: Chimaev by decision (+650)
