On May 30, 1929, Brashier was born in Eastland, Texas. Brashier was a three-year starter at North Texas as a defensive back, quarterback, and punter after a highly successful high school career (1949-51). In 1951, he had 10 interceptions, and throughout his career, he had 19 thefts. Both are still standing school records. He graduated from North Texas with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree.

Reactions Online
Head football coach of the Iowa Moon Family, Kirk Ferentz, praised Bill Brashier as a “great defensive coach.” “It was an honour to work with him as a young assistant coach throughout the 1980s and 1990s when leadership was a crucial component of every triumph and title our program won. Every single day, he drew the greatest performance possible from each of his players. He was a leader whom they adored and admired.
Bill was never showy or extravagant. He wasn’t looking for attention. He had no rivals in the coaching world. In addition, Bill was a fantastic mentor to myself, Dan McCarney, and other young coaches like Barry Alvarez. There was no one better to be around for a new coach. To Bill’s wife Ann, his family, his former players, and all of his friends, Mary and I express our sincere condolences.
