Around 9:30 am, Tropical Storm Nicole reportedly made landfall in Central Florida and began to pound the region with strong winds and heavy rain. The incident is said to have taken place near Bayfront Parkway and Pershing Avenue.
The man allegedly stepped out of a car and touched a live power wire, according to deputies at the Sheriff’s Office. At the scene, he was identified as deceased.
What Did The Authorities Say?
The woman he was travelling with, according to the authorities, was also electrocuted. She was brought to a nearby hospital, where she later passed away from her wounds.
A representative for the sheriff’s office stated, “We are advising all of our residents and tourists to use great caution if they are outside today.” “DOWNED POWER LINES: NEVER TOUCH THEM. If you are travelling and come across a downed electrical line, turn around right away.”
